The USB2514BI-AEZG-TR from Microchip Technology is a low-power, high-performance 4-port USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub controller designed for embedded USB hub applications. It is fully compliant with the USB 2.0 specification and supports Hi-Speed, Full-Speed and Low-Speed downstream USB devices, with Hi-Speed data rates of up to 480Mbps.

The device incorporates Microchip’s MultiTRAK™ multiple-transaction-translator architecture, providing one transaction translator for each downstream port. This architecture improves performance when multiple Full-Speed or Low-Speed peripherals operate simultaneously through the hub. The USB2514B provides four downstream USB ports from a single upstream host connection.

Extensive OEM configuration is available through an external serial I²C EEPROM or SMBus slave interface. Configurable parameters include Vendor ID, Product ID and Device ID. Integrated PortMap, PortSwap and PHYBoost™ technologies provide flexible port mapping, programmable USB differential-pair pin locations and adjustable USB signal drive strength for improved PCB routing and signal integrity.

The USB2514BI supports individual or ganged downstream-port power control and can operate in either self-powered or bus-powered hub configurations. It also supports the USB Battery Charging Specification Revision 1.1 for Charging Downstream Ports and integrates USB termination and pull-up/pull-down resistors to reduce external component requirements.
