The ADXL345BCCZ-RL7 from Analog Devices is a compact, low-power 3-axis digital MEMS accelerometer designed to measure both static acceleration from gravity and dynamic acceleration caused by motion or shock. It provides programmable measurement ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g and ±16g, making it suitable for motion sensing, tilt detection, portable devices and industrial instrumentation.

The ADXL345 supports selectable fixed 10-bit resolution and a full-resolution mode in which resolution increases with the selected g range. At ±16g, full-resolution operation provides up to 13-bit resolution while maintaining an approximately 3.9mg/LSB scale factor across all ranges. Acceleration data is provided in a 16-bit two’s-complement digital format.

Digital communication is available through I²C or 3-/4-wire SPI interfaces. The device operates from a 2.0V to 3.6V supply, while the digital I/O supply can range from 1.7V to VS. Programmable output data rates extend from 0.1Hz to 3200Hz, allowing designers to balance bandwidth and power consumption for different applications.

An integrated 32-level FIFO buffer reduces host-processor activity and system power consumption. Built-in motion functions include single-tap and double-tap detection, activity/inactivity monitoring and free-fall detection, with flexible interrupt functions that can be mapped to either of two interrupt pins.

The ADXL345 is optimized for battery-powered systems. Measurement-mode current can be as low as approximately 23µA at VS=2.5V, while standby current is typically only 0.1µA. Under normal measurement conditions at ODR ≥100Hz, typical supply current is approximately 140µA. The sensor also provides 10,000g shock survival capability.

The specific ADXL345BCCZ-RL7 ordering option is supplied in a 14-lead LGA (CC-14-1) package measuring 3 × 5 × 1mm and operates from -40°C to +85°C. The RL7 option is supplied in 1500-piece reel packaging. The device is RoHS compliant and is currently listed by Analog Devices as PRODUCTION.
