The AP3019AKTR-G1 from Diodes Incorporated is a compact white LED step-up driver designed for LCD backlighting and portable electronic applications. Based on an inductor-driven DC/DC boost topology, it can drive up to eight white LEDs in series while requiring only a single feedback resistor to regulate LED current and brightness.
AP3019AKTR-G1 operates from a 2.5V to 16V input supply and uses a fixed 1.2MHz PWM switching frequency, allowing designers to use small external inductors and capacitors for space-efficient PCB layouts. The device features a typical 550mA switch current limit, a 200mV feedback reference voltage, and efficiency of up to approximately 84%.
An integrated Schottky diode reduces the number of external components required, while built-in output overvoltage protection helps protect the circuit during LED open-circuit or abnormal operating conditions. The CTRL pin supports shutdown and PWM dimming, enabling convenient LED brightness control.
Supplied in a compact 6-pin SOT-23 package, the AP3019AKTR-G1 operates from -40°C to +85°C and is suitable for mobile phones, digital cameras, LCD modules, GPS receivers, handheld computers, and other white LED backlight applications.
