The BCM53286MIPBG from Broadcom is a highly integrated BCM5328xM RoboSwitch L2+ managed Fast Ethernet switch IC designed for enterprise, carrier access and multiport networking equipment. It integrates 24 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet PHYs together with four Gigabit Ethernet ports, enabling compact high-density managed switch designs.
The device features a nonblocking switch fabric with 1.5 MB of packet buffer and control memory, a 16K-entry MAC address table and a 4K-entry multicast table. Advanced switching capabilities include IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, flexible QinQ, port-, MAC- and protocol-based VLANs, IGMP/MLD snooping, Spanning Tree, link aggregation and ingress/egress port mirroring.
BCM53286MIPBG provides eight QoS queues per port with classification based on IEEE 802.1p, port, protocol, VLAN ID and DiffServ. It also supports per-port and per-queue rate control, storm control, minimum bandwidth guarantees and maximum bandwidth limits. Flexible connectivity includes SerDes, SGMII, RGMII and RvMII options, along with MDC/MDIO, SPI and JTAG management interfaces.
Manufactured using a 65 nm CMOS process, BCM53286MIPBG is supplied in a 676-pin PBGA, 35 × 35 mm package and has a typical full-traffic power consumption of approximately 3.6 W. It is suitable for 24-port managed Ethernet switches, enterprise and SMB networking equipment, broadband access platforms, carrier access switches and industrial networking systems.
