The CM6533X1 from C-Media Electronics is a highly integrated USB 2.0 Full-Speed audio chip designed for USB gaming headsets, VoIP headsets, microphones, speakers, audio boxes, and docking applications. It supports USB Audio Class 1.0 and USB HID Class 1.1 for flexible audio and human-interface device implementations.
The device integrates an 8051 microprocessor, 256KB Flash, and 32KB RAM, including 32KB of firmware programming space. Firmware customization enables HID buttons, control functions, and flexible product configurations. I2C, SPI, UART, and up to 12 programmable GPIO pins are also available for peripheral control and system expansion.
CM6533X1 integrates a two-channel DAC and two-channel ADC supporting sampling rates from 8kHz to 96kHz with 16-bit and 24-bit audio resolution. It also provides S/PDIF output, digital microphone support, playback and recording equalizers, and automatic gain control for the recording path. A built-in headphone amplifier supports approximately 30mW output into a 32-ohm load.
A key feature of the CM6533X1 is support for Xear™ sound processing, including Surround Headphone, software 10-band equalizer, Dynamic Bass, Voice Clarity, Smart Volume, Surround Max, Magic Voice, and environmental noise cancellation. These functions make it particularly suitable for gaming and multimedia headset applications.
The device also includes an embedded oscillator, tri-color PWM LED driver, and watchdog timer, helping reduce external component count and PCB space. CM6533X1 is supplied in a 48-pin LQFP package and is suitable for USB headsets, microphones, speakers, audio adapters, VoIP devices, and docking systems.
