The PT12-21C/TR8 from Everlight Electronics is a silicon phototransistor supplied in a miniature surface-mount package with a water-clear epoxy spherical top-view lens. It is spectrally matched to infrared-emitting diodes and is designed to provide fast response, high photosensitivity, and low junction capacitance for infrared sensing applications.

The device provides a broad 400nm to 1100nm spectral response range with a typical 890nm peak-sensitivity wavelength. At VCE=5V and an irradiance of 1mW/cm², on-state collector current is specified at 0.30mA minimum and 1.14mA typical.

Electrical ratings include a 30V collector-emitter voltage, 5V emitter-collector voltage, and 50mA maximum collector current. Maximum power dissipation is 75mW at 25°C free-air temperature, while maximum collector-emitter saturation voltage is 0.4V.
