The HPP801A031 from TE Connectivity Measurement Specialties is the HS1101LF capacitive relative-humidity sensor. It uses a solid-polymer capacitive sensing cell whose capacitance varies with ambient relative humidity. The sensor can be combined with capacitance-measurement, oscillator, or signal-conditioning circuitry to produce voltage, frequency, or digitally processed humidity information.
The specified humidity measurement range is 1%RH to 99%RH, while the maximum operating humidity range extends from 0%RH to 100%RH. At 25°C with a 10kHz, 1V measurement signal, nominal capacitance at 55%RH is 180pF typical, with a specified range of 177pF to 183pF. Average sensitivity from 33%RH to 75%RH is approximately 0.31pF/%RH.
Typical capacitance increases with humidity, from approximately 161.6pF at 0%RH to 180pF at 55%RH and 193.1pF at 100%RH. TE provides both polynomial conversion equations and a lookup table for translating measured capacitance into relative humidity.
Deviation from the typical response curve is specified at ±2%RH from 10%RH to 90%RH. Humidity hysteresis is ±1%RH, and long-term stability is ±0.5%RH per year. For a 33%RH-to-80%RH transition, the 63% signal time constant is 3 seconds minimum and 5 seconds typical.
Both operating and storage temperature ranges extend from −60°C to +140°C. The peak voltage rating is 10V AC. Although standard datasheet capacitance values are measured at 10kHz and 1V, TE specifies unrestricted sensor operation over a 5kHz-to-300kHz measurement-frequency range.
The HPP801A031 uses a two-lead through-hole package with a black plastic cap. The body diameter is approximately 9.7mm to 10.2mm, body height is 5.7mm to 6.2mm, lead length is approximately 12mm to 14mm, and nominal lead spacing is 5.08±0.2mm. TE notes that the black cap differentiates the HS1101LF from the earlier HS1101 version.
TE qualification testing includes mechanical shock, vibration from 20Hz to 2000Hz, ±15kV air-discharge ESD, salt atmosphere, temperature cycling, high-temperature/high-humidity operating life, water immersion, and resistance to chemicals associated with appliance, automotive, and consumer applications.
TE currently lists the exact HPP801A031 as Active, with the internal description “HS1101LF HUMIDITY SENSOR.” The product page also states that it is not currently available for direct online purchase, so stock and lead time should be verified through TE or authorized channels.

Typical Applications
Suitable for automotive cabin humidity sensing, HVAC systems, home appliances, printers, office automation, meteorological equipment, industrial process control, and applications requiring humidity compensation.
Because the HPP801A031 is a capacitive sensing element rather than a self-contained digital humidity IC, external capacitance-measurement or oscillator circuitry is typically required to convert its humidity-dependent capacitance into a usable electrical reading.
