The KSZ8081RNACA-TR from Microchip Technology is a highly integrated single-port 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet physical-layer transceiver designed for data transmission and reception over standard CAT-5 unshielded twisted-pair cable. It provides an RMII interface for direct connection to RMII-compatible microcontrollers, processors, SoCs and Ethernet switches.
KSZ8081RNACA-TR integrates on-chip termination resistors for the differential pairs and a low-noise regulator for the 1.2V core, helping reduce external component count and simplify PCB layout. It supports 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V digital I/O levels. The RNACA version uses a 25MHz clock or crystal input by default and can generate a 50MHz RMII reference clock for the connected MAC.
The device supports HP Auto MDI/MDI-X for automatic detection of straight-through and crossover cables. Integrated LinkMD TDR-based cable diagnostics can identify open circuits, short circuits and impedance mismatches and assist in locating cable faults. Additional features include auto-negotiation, power-saving modes, MDC/MDIO management and interrupt signaling.
Supplied in a compact 24-pin lead-free QFN package, KSZ8081RNACA-TR is specified for the 0°C to +70°C commercial temperature range. It is suitable for embedded systems, network appliances, IP cameras, gateways, printers, smart-home devices and other 10/100Mbps Ethernet applications.
