The LNK3696P from Power Integrations is an energy-efficient LinkSwitch-XT2 low-power offline switcher IC designed for compact flyback AC-DC power supplies. It integrates a 900V high-voltage power MOSFET, oscillator, high-voltage switched current source and control circuitry into a single device. Startup and operating power are derived directly from the DRAIN pin, helping eliminate the need for a bias winding and reduce external component count.
LNK3696P uses simple ON/OFF control and operates at a 66kHz switching frequency. Frequency jittering and cycle-by-cycle current limiting help reduce EMI and improve system reliability. Integrated protection features include selectable current limiting, auto-restart/latching fault response, input overvoltage, output overvoltage, output overload, short-circuit, open-loop and over-temperature protection.
Supplied in a through-hole PDIP-8C package, LNK3696P supports flyback topology and delivers up to 11W output at 230V or up to 8W with universal input. It is suitable for utility meters, industrial controls, home appliances, auxiliary supplies, standby power and other low-power AC-DC applications requiring high-voltage capability.
