The SMDJ8.0CA from Littelfuse is a bidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode from the SMDJ series, designed to protect sensitive electronics against voltage transients caused by lightning, switching events, and other surge conditions. Its surface-mount construction is suitable for I/O interfaces, power buses, telecommunications, computers, industrial equipment, and consumer electronics.
The device has an 8V reverse standoff voltage and a bidirectional configuration suitable for AC, bipolar, and polarity-independent protection nodes. At a 1mA test current, its specified breakdown-voltage range is 8.89V to 9.83V, corresponding to the 5% tolerance version of the SMDJ family.

Operating junction temperature ranges from −65°C to +150°C, while the storage-temperature range is −65°C to +175°C. Typical thermal resistance is 15°C/W from junction to lead and 75°C/W from junction to ambient under the specified test conditions.
The SMDJ8.0CA uses a DO-214AB surface-mount package. The standard SMDJ8.0CA ordering option is associated with TR13 tape-and-reel packaging, while SMDJ8.0CA-T7 is the TR07 version. The series is RoHS compliant and halogen-free.
