The IMX225LQR-C is a high-sensitivity color CMOS image sensor manufactured by Sony Semiconductor Solutions. Featuring Sony Exmor imaging technology, this sensor offers a 1/3-inch optical format and approximately 1.27 million effective pixels. It is specifically designed for imaging applications requiring excellent low-light sensitivity, low dark current, and reliable image acquisition.

The IMX225LQR-C features an effective resolution of 1305 × 977 pixels and a recommended recording resolution of 1280 × 960 pixels, delivering approximately 1.23 megapixels of image output. Its 3.75 × 3.75μm pixel architecture provides enhanced light collection efficiency, making it suitable for surveillance cameras and industrial imaging systems operating under challenging lighting conditions.

Based on Sony Exmor technology, the sensor adopts an advanced CMOS pixel structure and column-parallel analog-to-digital conversion architecture. Combined with an RGB primary color filter array, it provides high sensitivity, low dark current, and reduced smear characteristics, supporting reliable color image acquisition in visible-light and near-infrared environments.

One of the key advantages of the IMX225LQR-C is its excellent low-light imaging performance. Its specially developed 3.75μm pixels provide improved sensitivity compared with previous-generation Sony industrial image sensors. Under specified test conditions, the sensor can achieve a minimum subject illumination of 0.005 lux or less when operating with 72dB gain, making it suitable for security monitoring and night-vision imaging applications.

The sensor incorporates correlated double sampling (CDS) and a programmable gain amplifier (PGA). Its total gain adjustment range extends from 0dB to 72dB, including up to 30dB analog gain and additional digital gain of up to 42dB. These functions help optimize image signal amplification and improve image visibility in low-illumination environments.

The IMX225LQR-C supports 10-bit and 12-bit analog-to-digital conversion. In Quad VGA full-pixel scanning mode, the maximum frame rate can reach 120 frames per second in 10-bit mode and 60 frames per second in 12-bit mode when using compatible 4-channel LVDS or 4-lane MIPI interfaces. The CMOS parallel interface has a lower maximum frame rate depending on the selected readout mode.

The sensor supports multiple image readout configurations, including full-pixel scanning, horizontal and vertical 2 × 2 binning, 1/2 subsampling, window cropping, and HD 720p readout modes. These functions provide flexibility for different camera resolutions, frame rates, and image acquisition requirements.

For high-speed image transmission, the IMX225LQR-C supports three selectable output interface types: CMOS parallel, low-voltage LVDS serial, and MIPI CSI-2. The LVDS interface supports selectable 1-channel, 2-channel, and 4-channel configurations, while the MIPI CSI-2 interface supports 1-lane, 2-lane, and 4-lane configurations.

The sensor supports RAW10 and RAW12 output formats through compatible serial interfaces, with a maximum transmission rate of 594Mbps per channel or lane. The CMOS parallel interface supports a maximum output data rate of 74.25 megapixels per second, enabling integration with different image signal processors (ISPs) and embedded camera platforms.

The IMX225LQR-C features an electronic rolling shutter with variable charge-integration time, allowing flexible exposure control according to different lighting conditions and camera requirements. It also integrates timing adjustment circuitry, horizontal and vertical drivers, and serial communication functions to simplify hardware integration.

Unlike the IMX224LQR-C, the IMX225LQR-C does not incorporate Sony’s digital-overlap wide dynamic range (DOL-WDR) function. This distinction is important when selecting a compatible image sensor for surveillance cameras and industrial imaging equipment.

The device operates with three separate power supply domains: 3.3V analog power, 1.2V digital power, and 1.8V interface power. It supports input clock frequencies of 27MHz, 37.125MHz, 54MHz, and 74.25MHz.

The IMX225LQR-C comes in a 110-pin LGA package, providing a compact surface-mount solution for camera manufacturers and embedded imaging system developers.

The Sony IMX225LQR-C is suitable for low-light security cameras, CCTV surveillance systems, industrial cameras, near-infrared imaging equipment, traffic monitoring systems, and other professional imaging applications.
