The SS22-0B00-02 from Broadcom is the secure version of the PEX89072, a high-performance managed PCI Express 5.0 switch from the PEX89000 family. It provides 72 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes with on-chip 32 GT/s SerDes, delivering high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity for servers, storage platforms, AI/ML systems and high-performance computing applications.
SS22-0B00-02 supports PCIe Gen1 through Gen5, with each port independently configurable for link speed. Flexible link widths include x1, x2, x4, x8 and x16, while any port can operate as an upstream host port or downstream device port. This enables flexible connection of CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, AI accelerators, NVMe SSDs, NICs and other PCIe endpoints.
Based on Broadcom ExpressFabric architecture, the device supports multi-host connectivity, shared I/O resources and dynamic allocation of devices between hosts. Enhanced Non-Transparent Bridging capabilities enable advanced multi-host system architectures, while an embedded ARM processor provides switch configuration, I/O management, hot-add/remove control and interrupt handling.
As the secure PEX89072 ordering option, SS22-0B00-02 supports hardware secure boot and attestation for enhanced platform security. Additional capabilities include SR-IOV resource sharing, DPC/eDPC, QoS, hot-plug support, on-chip PCIe analysis, SerDes eye monitoring, error diagnostics and telemetry. It is ideal for AI/ML servers, GPU accelerator platforms, NVMe JBOF systems, all-flash storage arrays, cloud infrastructure and HPC systems.
