The TB6600HG from Toshiba is a high-current PWM chopper-type bipolar stepper motor driver IC designed for two-phase bipolar stepping motors. Its single-chip sinusoidal microstepping architecture supports forward and reverse rotation control and enables efficient motor operation with reduced vibration.
The device operates from an 8V to 42V power supply and supports up to 4.5A maximum output current within its operating range. Its absolute maximum peak output current is 5.0A, while the output stage has a withstand voltage rating of 50V. The integrated output MOSFET stage provides a typical combined high-side and low-side on-resistance of only 0.4Ω.
TB6600HG supports selectable full-step, half-step, 1/4-step, 1/8-step, and 1/16-step excitation modes. The integrated PWM chopper current-control architecture and mixed-decay operation help produce smooth motor-current waveforms for reduced vibration and efficient stepper motor control.
Integrated protection functions include thermal shutdown (TSD), undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and overcurrent detection (ISD). RESET, ENABLE, standby, ALERT, and motor-output monitoring functions provide additional flexibility and system protection for demanding motor-control applications.
The TB6600HG is supplied in a 25-pin HZIP25-P-1.00F through-hole power package and operates over a -30°C to +85°C temperature range. It is suitable for CNC equipment, industrial automation, robotics, printers, positioning systems, and other bipolar stepper motor applications.
