The BCM56873A0KFSBG from Broadcom is a high-performance StrataXGS Trident 3 programmable multilayer Ethernet switch ASIC delivering 2.0Tbps of switching capacity and supporting configurations of up to 20x100GbE. It is designed for high-bandwidth data center, enterprise and service-provider networking platforms.

Based on Broadcom’s FleXGS programmable switching architecture, the device family provides programmable packet parsing, lookup, action and editing engines. It supports modern network virtualization and tunneling technologies including VXLAN, Geneve, MPLS, MPLS over GRE/UDP, GUE, ILA and PPPoE, allowing new forwarding and instrumentation features to be introduced through software upgrades.

Trident 3 supports high-density 10/25/40/50/100GbE connectivity together with programmable forwarding databases for Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 routing, label switching and overlay forwarding. Advanced network visibility features include Flow Tracker, per-packet timestamping, microburst detection, latency and packet-drop monitoring, and in-band network telemetry.
