The Microchip LAN7430T-I/Y9X is a highly integrated PCIe 3.1 to 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet controller. It integrates a PCIe PHY, PCIe endpoint controller, Gigabit Ethernet MAC, and Gigabit Ethernet PHY, providing a compact PCIe-to-Ethernet connectivity solution for embedded systems, industrial PCs, network cameras, LTE modems, and test equipment. Microchip currently lists the LAN7430 family as In Production.
The PCIe interface supports PCIe 3.1 with one lane operating at 2.5GT/s. Its integrated Ethernet PHY supports 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T, together with auto-negotiation, Auto-MDIX, on-chip differential-pair termination, and programmable Link, Activity, and Speed LED outputs. IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet is also supported.
The LAN7430 integrates IEEE 1588-2008 Precision Time Protocol support, including hardware timestamping of transmitted and received Ethernet frames. It supports ordinary clocks, end-to-end and peer-to-peer operation, multicast and unicast PTP messages, and transport over IPv4, IPv6, and IEEE 802.3.
Networking hardware includes scatter-gather DMA, multiple receive channels, internal FIFO buffering, TX large-segment offload, checksum offload, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN filtering, and Receive Side Scaling. These hardware functions help reduce host CPU processing overhead.
The device supports single 3.3V supply operation using integrated switching and LDO regulators, with selectable 1.8V, 2.5V, or 3.3V I/O voltage. Other integrated features include four GPIOs, 1KB OTP memory, external EEPROM support, JTAG, Wake-on-LAN, and PCIe L1.1/L1.2 power-saving substates.
