The Nexperia PESD12VS1UB is a single-line unidirectional ESD protection diode designed to protect transmission and data lines against electrostatic discharge and other transient overvoltage events. It is housed in a compact SOD523 / SC-79 surface-mount package and is intended for computers, peripherals, communication systems, audio/video equipment, and general data-line protection.
The device supports a maximum 12V reverse standoff voltage. At IR = 5mA and 25°C, breakdown voltage is specified from 14.7V to 15.3V, with a typical value of 15V. Reverse leakage current at 12V is only 1nA typical and 50nA maximum.
ESD protection capability reaches 30kV contact discharge according to IEC 61000-4-2, while the HBM rating is 10kV. Under the IEC 61000-4-5 8/20µs surge waveform, the device supports 5A peak pulse current and 180W rated peak pulse power.
Maximum clamping voltage is 19V at 1A and 35V at 5A. Diode capacitance is 38pF typical and 75pF maximum at 1MHz and 0V, making the device suitable for general signal and data-line protection where ultra-low capacitance is not required.
The PESD12VS1UB uses a 2-pin SOD523 package measuring approximately 1.2 × 0.8 × 0.6mm, with marking code N3. Ambient operating temperature ranges from -55°C to +150°C. The standard PESD12VS1UB is now a non-automotive-qualified version; Nexperia provides the separate PESD12VS1UB-Q for automotive applications. The standard device is currently listed as Production.
