The device provides two separate supply domains. Port A operates from 0.9V to 5.5V, while Port B operates from 2.7V to 5.5V, allowing devices using different logic-supply voltages to communicate over the same I2C or SMBus network.
In addition to voltage translation, the PCA9517A provides bidirectional buffering for both SDA and SCL lines, electrically isolating the capacitance of the two bus segments.
