The Texas Instruments DAC8830ICDR is a single-channel, 16-bit, serial-input voltage-output DAC designed for high-accuracy and ultra-low-power analog-output applications. Its unbuffered output architecture minimizes power consumption and additional buffer-related error. Typical applications include industrial process control, automatic test equipment, data acquisition systems, portable equipment, and optical networking. TI currently lists the exact DAC8830ICDR as Active Production.

The DAC8830ICDR is the high-accuracy C-grade version, specified for a maximum ±1 LSB INL and ±1 LSB DNL across its operating temperature range. Typical gain drift is only ±0.1ppm/°C, while zero-code drift is approximately ±0.05ppm/°C.

The device operates from a 2.7V to 5.5V single supply and accepts an external reference from 1.25V to VDD. The DAC8830 provides a unipolar 0V to VREF output range, with output voltage determined by the applied reference and 16-bit digital code. Its output is unbuffered, with approximately 6.25kΩ output impedance.

Dynamic performance includes 1µs settling time to 1/2 LSB of full scale with a 10pF load and a 25V/µs slew rate. Typical major-carry glitch energy is 35nV·s, digital feedthrough is 0.2nV·s, and DAC8830 output-noise density is approximately 10nV/√Hz.

A high-speed 3-wire serial interface is compatible with SPI, QSPI, Microwire, and DSP interfaces, with serial clock rates up to 50MHz. A power-on-reset circuit initializes the DAC to zero code, resulting in a 0V output after power-up.

Typical supply current is only 5µA, corresponding to approximately 15µW at 3V. The exact DAC8830ICDR is supplied in an 8-pin SOIC package, rated for -40°C to +85°C, and packaged in 2,500-piece large tape-and-reel format. It is RoHS compliant and rated MSL Level 2.
