The LM13700MX/NOPB from Texas Instruments is a dual current-controlled operational transconductance amplifier (OTA). Each independent channel includes differential inputs and a push-pull current output, while both amplifiers share common supply rails. This architecture is well suited for voltage-controlled amplification, filtering, oscillation and dynamic analog signal-processing applications.
The LM13700 provides transconductance adjustment over more than six decades through the amplifier-bias current, IABC. Under the standard ±15V and 500µA IABC test condition, typical forward transconductance is approximately 9600µS. This current-controlled gain characteristic makes the device useful in VCAs, voltage-controlled filters and oscillators, analog multipliers and automatic-gain circuits.
Each OTA includes input linearizing diodes that reduce distortion and permit higher differential input levels. TI specifies approximately a 10dB signal-to-noise improvement referenced to 0.5% THD when using the linearizing structure. Two integrated high-impedance buffers complement the wide dynamic range of the transconductance stages.
Typical dynamic specifications include 2MHz open-loop bandwidth, 50V/µs slew rate, and 110dB CMRR. At VS=±15V with both channels biased at IABC=500µA, typical total supply current is approximately 2.6mA, while maximum input offset voltage is 4mV.
The device supports a 10V to 36V total supply range, including split-supply operation such as ±5V to ±18V. Typical applications listed by TI include current-controlled amplifiers, stereo audio amplifiers, current-controlled impedances and filters, oscillators, multiplexers, timers and sample-and-hold circuits.
The exact LM13700MX/NOPB ordering option is supplied in a 16-pin SOIC (D) package with a nominal body size of approximately 3.91 × 9.90mm. It operates from 0°C to +70°C and is supplied in 2,500-piece large tape-and-reel packaging. The device is RoHS and REACH compliant, carries an MSL Level 1 / 260°C rating, and is currently listed by TI as ACTIVE.
