The Texas Instruments OPA567AIRHGT is a high-current single-channel power operational amplifier designed to directly drive demanding low-voltage loads while maintaining the flexibility and closed-loop control characteristics of a conventional op amp.
The OPA567 operates from a total supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V and supports either single- or dual-supply configurations. Its rail-to-rail input and output architecture enables efficient use of the available signal range in low-voltage power and actuator-control systems.
A key feature of the device is its 2A high-output-current capability. TI specifies a typical output-current parameter of approximately 2.2A, while the device is marketed as a 2A power amplifier. The output can swing very close to the supply rails even while driving high current, making it suitable for low-voltage, high-current linear drive applications.
The amplifier provides a typical 1.2MHz gain-bandwidth product and 1.2V/µs slew rate. It is unity-gain stable, allowing straightforward implementation as a buffer, power booster or closed-loop actuator driver.
OPA567 includes an adjustable current-limit function. The output-current limit can be programmed with an external resistor and can also be dynamically controlled using a DAC, allowing designers to protect loads or implement programmable current-drive systems.
A dedicated Enable input can independently disable the amplifier output. When disabled, the output enters a high-impedance state and amplifier supply current falls to less than 10µA, which is useful for power saving, load protection and multiplexed applications.
Two diagnostic outputs are integrated. The IFLAG current-limit flag indicates when the amplifier has entered current limiting, while the TFLAG thermal-warning output indicates thermal stress. TFLAG can be combined with the Enable input to implement a system-level thermal shutdown strategy.
Other precision characteristics include a maximum input offset voltage of approximately 2mV at 25°C, typical offset drift of 1.3µV/°C, maximum input bias current of 10pA, and typical common-mode rejection of approximately 80dB. Typical quiescent current is about 3.4mA.
The specific OPA567AIRHGT ordering code is supplied in a thermally enhanced 12-pin VQFN (RHG) package measuring 5 × 5mm. An exposed thermal pad provides an efficient thermal path from the amplifier to the PCB. The HGT ordering option is supplied on 250-piece small tape-and-reel packaging, and TI currently lists it as ACTIVE.
