The Texas Instruments TPA3128D2DAPR is a high-efficiency stereo Class-D audio power amplifier designed for Bluetooth speakers, wireless speakers, soundbars, televisions, docking systems and other compact audio products.
The TPA3128D2 supports a wide 4.5V to 26V supply-voltage range and can deliver 2 × 30W into 8Ω BTL loads at 24V. The device also supports Parallel BTL (PBTL) and mono-channel configurations, providing flexibility for stereo and higher-power mono audio designs.
High-efficiency Class-D architecture provides greater than 90% power efficiency under suitable operating conditions. Combined with low idle losses, this allows the amplifier to deliver 2 × 30W without requiring an external heat sink on a properly designed dual-layer PCB.
The amplifier features a very low idle current below 23mA with recommended LC-filter configurations. An adaptive modulation scheme dynamically adjusts operation according to output power, helping reduce idle losses and external LC-filter ripple in battery-powered audio systems.
TPA3128D2 provides selectable switching frequencies from 300kHz to 1.2MHz and incorporates AM-avoidance functionality. Master and slave synchronization is also supported, allowing multiple amplifier ICs to operate with synchronized switching frequencies in multi-channel systems.
A feedback power-stage architecture provides high power-supply rejection and can reduce power-supply filtering requirements. The device also includes programmable power limiting, giving designers control over maximum speaker output power.
Integrated protection features include short-circuit protection, overtemperature protection, overvoltage protection, undervoltage protection and DC-detection protection. Fault conditions can be reported back to the system processor through the FAULT output.
The TPA3128D2DAPR uses a thermally enhanced 32-pin HTSSOP PowerPAD-down (DAP) package with a nominal body size of approximately 11.0 × 6.2mm. The R suffix indicates large tape-and-reel packaging suitable for automated SMT assembly.
