TNY174PN Power Integrations TinySwitch-LT 650V Flyback Switcher IC DIP-8C

The TNY174PN from Power Integrations is an energy-efficient TinySwitch-LT low-power offline switcher IC designed for compact flyback AC-DC power supplies. It integrates a 650V high-voltage power MOSFET, oscillator, high-voltage switched current source, selectable current limit and thermal shutdown circuitry. Its simple ON/OFF control scheme eliminates the need for complex loop compensation and helps reduce external component count.

TNY174PN operates at a typical switching frequency of 132kHz and incorporates frequency jittering to reduce EMI filter requirements. The current limit can be selected through the BP/M pin capacitor, allowing designers to optimize peak and continuous output power. Integrated protection includes auto-restart or latching fault response, output overvoltage, short-circuit, open-loop, overload and over-temperature protection.

Supplied in a through-hole DIP-8C package, TNY174PN supports universal 85–265VAC input and flyback topology. It delivers up to 11W open-frame or 6W enclosed output at 230VAC, and up to 8.5W open-frame or 5W enclosed output with universal input. It is suitable for home appliances, auxiliary supplies, standby power, industrial controls, utility meters and other low-power AC-DC applications.
