The TOP258YN from Power Integrations is a highly integrated TOPSwitch-HX offline switcher IC designed for efficient AC-DC power supplies. It integrates a 700V high-voltage power MOSFET, high-voltage switched current source, PWM controller, oscillator, thermal shutdown and fault protection circuitry, helping reduce external component count and simplify power supply design.
TOP258YN supports a universal 85VAC to 265VAC input range and a maximum switching frequency of 132kHz for flyback power supply designs. Integrated functions include multi-mode operation, programmable current limiting, frequency jittering, soft-start, auto-restart, output overvoltage and undervoltage protection, short-circuit protection, overload protection, open-loop protection and hysteretic thermal shutdown.
Supplied in a through-hole TO-220-7C package, TOP258YN supports up to 148W open-frame output power at universal input and up to 195W open-frame output at 230VAC. It is suitable for LCD monitors, laptop adapters, set-top boxes, digital TVs, printers, small servers, UPS systems, broadband modems and audio amplifiers.
