The TPS82140SILR from Texas Instruments is a highly integrated synchronous step-down DC/DC power module combining a buck converter and power inductor in a compact package. It operates from a 3V to 17V input-voltage range, provides an adjustable 0.9V to 6V output, and delivers up to 2A of continuous output current.
The module uses TI’s DCS-Control™ architecture for fast load-transient response and accurate output-voltage regulation. It operates in PWM mode at a nominal switching frequency of 2MHz and automatically enters Power Save Mode at light loads. Typical operating quiescent current in this mode is approximately 20μA.
TPS82140 supports 100% duty-cycle operation to minimize dropout when the input voltage approaches the programmed output voltage. Integrated functions include enable control, power-good output, output discharge, programmable soft start, and output-voltage tracking for controlled power sequencing.
The device includes thermal-shutdown protection and supports an operating-temperature range from −40°C to +125°C. It is supplied in an 8-terminal MicroSiP package measuring 3.0 × 2.8 × 1.5mm, making it suitable for compact, high-density power designs.
